The Austrian Minetti Quartet, formed in 2003, has quickly developed into one of the most in-demand young ensembles in Europe. Their 2008/09 has already been hailed as one of the concert events of the season, with performances at the Cologne Philharmonic Concert Hall, in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Luxemburg Philharmonic Concert Hall and the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

The release of this new CD marks the recording debut of the Minetti Quartet. Since the four musicians won 1st Prize in the spring of 2007 at the Haydn Competition in Vienna, recording the works of Haydn were an obvious choice - particularly with 2009 being the Haydn year! The beautiful, homogeneous, full mature and transparent sound of the quartet is also in part due to the traditional instruments used.

The quartets selected for this debut recording belong to the most well-known and most beautiful Haydn ever wrote, however these works are usually performed separately and not as a set.
Apart from the Haydn Competition in Vienna, the Minetti Quartet additionally won the 1st Place Prize in the International Rimbotti Competition for string quartets in Florence, the international String Qurtet Competition "Franz Schubert and the Music of the Moderns" in Graz (2006) as well as the coveted Gradus ad Parnassum Prize in 2003.
