Sonatas For Viola da Gamba And Harpsichord
Bach only rarely used the viola da gamba in his works. But it is worth noting that this use is evenly distributed through Bach´s life. Thus, it seems to have been not so much the criterion of modernness but the specific character of the gamba which led him to use the instrument.
