Organ Works - New Ideas In Weimar

"Johann Sebastian Bach was now 32 years old, had made good use of his time, studied, played and composed so much up to this period, and gained such a command of the art through constant hard work and dedication that he stood there like a giant and could tread everything around him into the dust." This is how Bach´s first biographer Johann Nikolaus Forkel describes the composer´s proficiency and reputation at the end of his period in Weimar. Since 1708, Bach had gained an "extended sphere of activity for his art" as court organist, which "induced him to experiment with all manner of things and this was actually the period when he not only developed into such an eminent organist but also laid the foundations for his eminent organ compositions" to quote Forkelt again. This CD features a compilation of some of the organ works from Bach´s Weimar period that show ingeniously Bach "experimented with all manner of things".
