In 1999 the British Eden Stell Duo and the German-Canadian Amadeus Guitar Duo got together to record a CD with works in honor of the great Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo ("Spanish Night" CD - hänssler CLASSIC 98.349). The recording had been a great success, with reviewers and audiences alike thrilled by the ensemble. As part of this tour, Mark, Chris, Dale and Thomas also played some concerts without an orchestra. Excerpts from these "Guitar Gala Nights" can be heard on this CD. Solos, duets and quartets from various epochs of music history, from the Baroque to the modern period are all presented with dazzling virtuosity.
