Elizabeth Grümmer ranks among the 20 most important Sopranos of the last century. Grümmer rose to prominence in the 50s and 60s as one of the leading lyric sopranos, performing to acclaim on the world's stages. Additionally, she was an outstanding interpreter of song and lied - however this side of her career was scarcely documented. All the more welcome then is this recording of a song recital, exactly as she performed it on May 30th, 1958, joined on piano by her regular accompanist, Hugo Diez. Also included is a short program of three Mozart arias, recorded in 1956 with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Karl Münchinger.
