hänssler CLASSIC is proud to present the conclusion of the complete works for violin and piano by George Enescu. The current CD contains the First and Third Violin Sonatas in addition to several shorter works, which receive the modern premiere recordings. This final disc also provides a compact overview of Enescu's complete creative life - from the miniature gem, the Ballade (1895), composed when Enescu was just 14 years old, thorough the ornate, post-romantic Impromptu concertant (written as one of a series of "morceaux de concours"), the explict folkloric/nationalistic flavor of the Hora Unirei (1917), and the touching, bittersweet Andante malinconico (1951) - written four years before the composer's death and was the piece he composed for violin and piano.
