With more than 150,000 visitors every year, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival is one of the largest classical musical celebrations in the world. Every summer since 1987, more than a hundred of the best young musicians from around the world meet on the grounds of the fairytale castle in Salzau.
These young artists were selected by process of special auditions from 30 cities around the globe to perform world-class programs under the direction of the world's greatest conductors.
The Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra has also gone on world-wide tours and this present recording was made in Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
These young musicians perform a spirited concert of Brahms that is the equal of any mature ensemble. In the coming years, hänssler CLASSIC will be the exclusive label to record the orchestral and choral concerts from the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Choir and Orchestra.
